Aftercare Instructions
Things to avoid
Avoid direct sunlight for up to 2 weeks.
Hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, pools, lakes, rivers, oceans, hot tubs, etc. (until fully healed).
Sunscreen (until fully healed).
Dirt and debris.
Working out and sweating excessively.
Picking, scratching, or peeling scabs off.
*Doing any of this may cause infection, unnecessary scarring and/or affect the look of your tattoo.*
Saniderm
Leave Saniderm on for at least 24 hours. If you’re able to leave it on longer, it’ll help expedite the healing process. You can leave it on for 3-5 days.
Bandage
Leave this bandage on for at least 2-24 hours. As soon as you remove the bandage, wash the tattoo straight away with a mild liquid soap and water. Pat dry with a paper towel, and apply a small amount of Aquaphor to the tattoo. Do not under any circumstances re-bandage your tattoo. Once the bandage comes off, it’s off and don’t wrap it up again. Wash once a day for the next two weeks, switching from Aquaphor to a non-scented lotion after the first two days.
Saniderm removal
With clean hands under lukewarm water, remove the saniderm bandage like 3M command strip from a wall: pull from the bottom.
Wash your tattoo with a liquid mild non-scented soap (Cerave, Dr. Bronner)
Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
With clean hands, apply a reasonable amount of non-scented/fragrance-free lotion (Lubriderm, Cerave). Apply 1-2 times a day for 3-4 weeks after you have taken off your bandage.
You may sense a sunburn or soreness sensation and you can treat this sensation with a clean paper towel and an ice pack for a few minutes a day.
Wash your tattoo once daily for the next 1-2 weeks. Do not wash more than once a day.
Taking care of your tattoo
When your tattoo is completely healed, SPF (sunscreen) is recommend to keep your tattoo looking its best.
Just like tattoo removal the sun emits rays that overtime can break down tattoo pigment and cause the ink to spread making your tattoo blotchy.
It is important to follow the specific aftercare instructions provided to ensure the best possible healing and results. If you have any questions or concerns about the aftercare process, be sure to ask your practitioner for more guidance.
Recommend moisturizers/tattoo balms
Vanicream, Lubriderm, CereVe, Eucerin, Cetaphil. All fragrance-free varities
Avoid using petroleum based products petroleum based products can trap bacteria and trap moisture blocking your tattoo from getting air. It is important it let your tattoo breathe! Stick to water-based and non-scented products.
Microblading
First night: before bed, wash with a non-scented soap (I recommend Dr. Bronners or CeraVe) and your fingertips either in the sink or in the shower. You can also get some suds going in your hand and gently use a Q-tip or a cotton round if you want to. The first time you wash your brows, it's normal to have residual pigment come off. Pat your brows dry with a cotton round or paper towel. Do not use a regular towel or wash cloth for this (towels tend to harbor bacteria and your new brows are an open wound). The second day: wash your brows in the same way as the first night. The third day: wash again, wait 20 minutes, and apply a small amount of Aquaphor/Hustle Butter/Redemption aftercare. Use the ointment very sparingly. Your brows should not look shiny, we just want them to be gently moisturized. Continue to wash once a day and apply the ointment as needed once or twice a day for 7-10 days total.
Your brows are going to look huge and dark at first, and they're going to darken for several days before starting to flake off around day 3-5 or so. This is normal. It's also normal to panic. The healing process is super stressful. Your brows will shrink and lighten up to 50% by the time they're done healing. Flakes are going to come off as you're washing or applying ointment, or just sort of at random: this is very normal. Your brows are also going to start to itch like crazy as they're healing, but do not pick or scratch. Mostly just leave your brows alone!
In the middle of healing, after the flaking has occurred, your brows will look like they've disappeared for a day or two. Don't worry, they'll reappear. This is a normal part of the healing process. Just keep washing and applying the ointment and you're ok.
You can (and should) shower as your brows are healing. Your brows can get wet. You don't want to soak your brows in a sauna, or a hot spin/yoga class, but they can get wet in the shower.
You can work out. If you're a sweaty person, you'll probably want to avoid the sweaty workouts for 7-10 days until they're healed.
You cannot put makeup on your brows until they're healed. Full face is fine, just avoid the brows until they're done healing. 7-10 days.
Avoid retinol & vitamin c serums on your brows. Forever. You can use these products on your face, but avoid your brows because they 100% will make them fade quickly.
After your brows are healed, you should wear sunscreen on them every. single. day. The sun will fade your brows as quickly as retinol will.
